Malaysian wood can leach tannins into aquarium water, which is beneficial as a natural acid buffer. However, these tannins can tint the water yellow or brown. This can be avoided by optionally pre-soaking the wood, and replacing the water until it's clear.
I ordered the Malaysian Driftwood piece and what came in the mail was a bit short of my expectations. The wood piece was really small and didn't have much character to it as it shows on the website. It also took a long time to treat the wood.
love it, they have a lot more crazy shaped wood than other places I shop at.
