We specialize in the design and management of high-end nature and reef aquariums. We take a naturalistic approach to aquarium design. We strive to keep aquatic ecosystems.Our focus is not on fish only. We approach aquarium keeping as we would a garden. We are aware of the interdependencies between plants, animals, and the abiotic elements of earth. Using this knowledge, we can create aquatic systems that replicate nature. This benefits an aquarium's inhabitants as well as aquarium keepers. By incorporating plants, corals, invertebrates, plus natural elements like rocks and wood, we can greatly enhance a viewing experience. This also enables the aquarium to process waste naturally.
We believe aquariums are objects of art and interior decor. We believe aquariums require inspired creativity as well as technical precision. The aquarium itself should be as exquisite and alluring as the life contained within. Aquariums are part biological and chemical, part mechanical and electrical. Aquariums allow us to create beauty, and to exercise our creativity. At the same time, they give us opportunities to get in touch with science and nature.
We have strict standards for quality, and we only sell equipment that we would use ourselves. We leverage technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, and aesthetics. We help to shift the user’s energy and attention away from aquarium maintenance and towards the flora and fauna themselves. Our final products are visually stunning freshwater and saltwater ecosystems - vibrant, healthy, and abundant in biodiversity.
Aqua Lab Aquaria was founded in 2013 in San Jose, California. The company is run by a small team of passionate aquarists with over 15 years of experience. We have a vision to change the way this industry operates in the USA. We are building the business from the ground up and working hard to expand our operation. This wonderful hobby, and our business, is made possible by the natural resources of our planet. We feel compelled to do our best to make responsible choices. We maintain sustainable business practices. We select product materials and packaging with care. We re-use shipping materials, and recycle water in our brick-and-mortar store. In the future, we plan to launch a research and development branch. This will help to establish and improve sustainability trends, both in the aquarium industry and beyond. We also plan to contribute a portion of our proceeds to other organizations that advance these goals. We want our business and customers to be a part of the solution.
