Controsoil Extra Fine Soil - UNS

Choosing a quality substrate is an essential part of a nature aquarium as it provides vital nutrients for lush plant growth and helps balance water properties by decreasing the hardness/pH to optimal levels for aquatic plants, shrimp, and most tropical fish.

Originating in Japan, Ultum Nature Systems x Marfied Controsoil consists of high-quality natural soil and volcanic ash. It’s common for competing substrates to cause ammonia levels to spike. While this helps “jump start” a tank and promotes plant growth; it is toxic to livestock and can cause unsightly algae during initial stages of an aquarium set up. Controsoil provides the perfect level of nutrients without excess. Many have successfully added livestock within the first 24 hours of a newly set up tank with this substrate without worry. We do however suggest making sure that ammonia and nitrites are eliminated before adding livestock.

Controsoil is available in various granule sizes and colors to accommodate user preference and aquatic plant choice.

    It’s soil!

It’s got a nice brown color and it’s easy to work with. Not too much else to say on the matter. Good

    Favorite Aquasoil

There is no - or not much - of an ammonia dump with this controsoil so i use it when I have to get fish and shrimp back into a new tank set up quickly. I have scaped the tank, flooded it , hooked up an established filter, and stocked the tank with fish, shrimp, snails all in the same day without any loses. I still do a 50% water change the next day. Maybe two days. But that's just to be safe. I have also added large amounts of controsoil to an existing tank with said inhabitants also with no problems related to ammonia leaching. Great Stuff, and grows plants well.

    Best aquasoil I’ve used

I wanted to wait a year before reviewing this soil to give the best review and it has not disappointed me. Every rooted plant has flourished without my liquid fertilizer and has been for a steady year now. I am used to using ADA Aquasoil but this was much easier to move around and NO large ammonia spike! It also hasn’t turned to mud yet when in the past, my Aquasoil got muddy pretty fast. This is definitely my new, go to aqua soil!

    Excellent seller, excellent product

First, I was delighted by ALA's quick turnaround on my order. I look forward to doing more business. As to the product, this is my second purchase of Controsoil Extra Fine (Brown). I like the way it looks, and my plants seem to be doing well. My Dwarf Hairgrass spreads rapidly through this soil. I give it a 4/5 because like most "manufactured" soils, it's light -- light enough to get ****** easily into a siphon tube, and for plants to get uprooted. Not as light as others I've used though.
